Lionesses hero Agyemang returns to Brighton on loan
Michelle Agyemang, who shot to fame as England retained the women's Euros last month, has rejoined Brighton on loan from Arsenal.
Agyemang, 19, made a huge impact as a substitute for the Lionesses in Switzerland, scoring vital late equalisers against Sweden and Italy in the knockout stages.
However, she was still expected to face stiff competition for game time at European champions Arsenal, who have England internationals Alessia Russo and Beth Mead among their attacking options.
Arsenal also spent a world record £1 miliion ($1.4 million) fee for a female player to sign Canadian forward Olivia Smith from Liverpool last month.
Agyemang scored five goals in 22 appearances on loan for Brighton last season as they finished fifth in the Women's Super League.
"We are thrilled to welcome Michelle back for another season. We loved working with her last year, and seeing how much she progressed as part of the squad," said Brighton head coach Dario Vidosic.
"What she achieved during the summer with England was incredible but not surprising. She has the character, work ethic and relentless nature of a champion."
The new WSL season begins on September 5.
